JSS Recap: Jason Ridge UNCENSORED!
I've interviewed Jason Ridge since the very beginning of his career. I've interviewed him in night clubs, on radio shows and on DVD. But I have never experienced an interview with the gay porn star so totally uncensored as Ridge's latest incarnation as producer, appearing alongside his roommate and production manager Rob Romoni to promote his new company, Ridgeline Films, on yesterday's episode of The Jason Sechrest Show. Together, the two of them took on -- and took down! -- everything from controversial topics to major players in both mainstream and porn, in what has got to be one of the most classically candid interviews in our site's history. Right off the bat I surmised that Ridge was much more comfortable in his own skin and I suggested that maybe this was the first time we were seeing the real him. I explained that from my point of view there have been three incarnations of the star to this point: The first time I interview him he was shy and nervous, barely about to get a word out of his mouth without shaking; As time went by, he used arrogance to hide his insecurities and gave a sense of his ego going into overdrive; And this time, Ridge seemed calm, collected and focused, but not about to take any shit or pretend to be or believe anything other than what he feels is true regardless of the feathers his opinions may or may not ruffle.
Physically, he's also never looked better, somewhere between his lean beginnings and his steroid phase. "I felt a lot of pressure to get bigger because I was told I was too skinny," says Ridge.
JR: You know, Blue Blake only hires muscular guys and I'm fine with that now. He'll just become competition. Basically, it's a free ticket if you steroid up and you have the abs and the muscles, regardless of how tore up your face looks from it, you get a free ride. I won't mention names like Van Damme or anything.
JS: Robert? He has a beautiful face, don't go there.
JR: For Croatia or something.
JS: For a father!
JR: For his girlfriend. Whatever.
JS: No, I'm saying he's a father. For his age, I think he is beautiful.
JR: Yeh, talk about a free ride. Anyway, no, he's a great guy I'm sure, but you know I'm gay and I love being gay and this is my career and peers and that's how I feel about it.
I quickly informed him that when Robert Van Damme appeared on my show, he explained that he has gotten to a point where he knows he loves cock and is greatful to the industry for giving him that outlet to have it while he remains married to a woman he loves.
JR: Oh, okay. I didn't realize that. Well, that's good. I give him credit. Unlike the Zeb Atlas and Mark Dalton performers out there. They don't know they're gay and gay people love to hate themselves so they love to worship these guys.
When asked what turns him on, Ridge said he loves straight porn and jacks off to it all the time.
Besides sharing the same name, Jason and Jason also share a devotion to the study of ancient mysticism that is Kabbalah.
JR: I wish I was more involved like I was before.
JS: I noticed we're both not wearing the string.
JR: Well mine keeps falling off.

JR: It's been a six month hiatus since I've had it on.
JS: Wow, me too! I have mixed feelings about it actually because part of me feels like the whole point of the study is to realize that you have everything you need within you, so you don't really need a string. But at the same time, I love the symbolism of ritual. It's a great reminder but that is really all it is.
JR: Plus, everytime I wear it I get asked about the M word. Madonna may have influenced my decisions, but it's a good influence.
I mentioned how I have questioned the Centre's focus on the text of the Zohar when there are so many books that come before it that you never hear mentioned like the Sefer Yetzirah and The Bahir, all of which are essential to true Kabbalistic study. Ridge said he guessed that it is like Scientology where the more you pay, the more you learn. Still, he says he uses The Zohar in times of need and takes volume 14 about health and well-being with him on plane rides to help him through things.
I asked him to define Kabbalah for people who might not understand it.
JR: It's seeking truth. It's seeking to not be selfish, thinking of others before yourself, just trying to make your life better.
I elaborated.
JS: I think it is rooted in a belief system that everyone is a piece of God and that we all have God within us and therefore it inspires you and teaches you how to behave more like God would in situations in your every day life. Or if you don't like the word God, then let's say it inspires you to behave like you feel the President of the United States should. It's about being a leader and recognizing your own power and using it for good by being the best version of yourself that you can be. What the Centre has done is offered up a very dumbed down version of a very complex text to the point that it becomes self-help, which is the smallest fraction of all religion or spirituality really.
JR: I want to believe in something that I know is not going to judge me regardless of Judaism, Christianity, Muslim... religion breeds hate and I don't want to be a part of that. So if I can have spirituality in my life and still fuck guys, why not?
We broached the topic of his new company, Ridgeline Films, and he says that of all the companies, he aspires to be a competition for Hot House. "Except not neccessarily as much films, because now the Internet is where its at so I really intend to capitalize on that too."
Ridge says it has been a lot of work, especially when shooting the first movie, A Rising Star, in Palm Springs. Ridge says he worked 20 hour days and didn't complain because he knew what he was in for. "I would fuck someone and then clean up the set after it was done," he says.
Ridge managed to snag Falcon Studios exclusive Roman Heart for a scene opposite himself during the brief period of time that Heart's contract from Falcon had expired. "Scandalous!" he laughed. "I knew Roman Heart and we asked him and he said yes. His ass is so voluptuous it was hard to capture my dick going in and out of it because I don't have a Peter North cock. We started shooting the scene at 8:00 at night and didn't finish until 2:00 in the morning. He has since re-signed with Falcon. It is the hottest scene though. I can honestly say that our movie is equal to or above Falcon."
Ridge stars as a mainstream actor in A Rising Star whose staff is trying to get a scoop about his sexuality to sell to the gossip rags to ruin his movie career. Aside from Ridge's scene with Heart, he also peforms a scene and a half (separate blowjob encounter) with Andrew Justice. There is also a threeway with Blu Kennedy, Marcos David and Joe Strong as well as Matt Cole's final scene opposite Joe Strong. "It's Matt Cole's best scene," says Ridge. "His first scene was with me for Hot House and now his last scene is for my company. I really wanted to fuck Blu too and I wanted him to fuck me, but I couldn't put myself in every scene. I know some people would be like, 'This is an all Jason Ridge movie. I'm not going to watch this because I hate him.'"
There are no water sports featured in the movie, but Ridge says it is something he would like to delve into.
The movie is directed and photographed by Dylan Ryan who Ridge says has directed many movies for Jet Set and is an amazing photographer, having shot his gorgeous cover for the Hot House movie, Skuff 3.
Though rumors were circulating during the inception of Ridgeline Films that Ridge was only a part owner in the company alongside businessman and circuit king Jeffrey Sanker, Ridge says that is no longer the case and that he is now full owner of the company. "He encouraged me and helped me out greatly," says Ridge. "He's very special to me and a wonderful friend. I need the company to be mine though. I need full creative control. I'm doing the movies I want to do and I'm doing them the right way and going to treat all the models with respect because Ive been there and I've seen how they can be treated."
Ridge didn't name companies but said there were moments in his career where he felt belittled or unimportant on sets. "I don't like the way I've seen some models treated, not just me," he says. "So for those boys, they can come with me because it's going to be the next best thing and I'm not a quitter. And to anyone who tells me differently, I say fuck off. I will be bigger than your company. Fuck off. If you want to be a part of it and help me and support me, that's fine if you want. If you're scared and you want to create a competition, that's fine if you want too. Or if you want to hate me and try to bring me down, that's fine too. I will make more money than you and I will treat my models with more respect and won't piss in their mouths in urinals and I won't give them a bag of coke and walk away and not take care of them. ...And I won't hire anyone like Doug Jeffries."
The jab at Jeffries comes on the heels of Lex Sabre's appearance earlier in the month where he stated, "Doug Jeffries knows how to reel you in and then stomp on you."
JS: What is wrong with Doug Jeffries? I've been hearing this a lot lately on the show.
JR: You know! He is the meanest, nastiest person. I will never associate myself with him. He will never get to associate himself with me and he doesn't have his own company. So I say, fuck you.
JS: Wow. I'm loving the new Jason Ridge. I used to talk like that.
JR: I'm tried of people saying things about me and lying. Fuck you. I'm gonna do my thing.
JS: Well, what's weird too is that you don't seem angry and you're not saying anything in a mean tone. You just seem very... honest.
JR: I want to be the opposite of Doug Jeffries.
JS: I think everyone wants to be the opposite of Doug Jeffries, Jason.
JR: I'm not going to sleep with all the models in my movies and I'm going to make it to the top without being mean to people like he is. I don't want to be like, "I choose you because you're Latino and Black and you will come fuck me."
JS: Don't hold anything back!
JR: You have to say what you mean. You know how it is. You can be honest and bold and have an opinion or you have be an Entertainment Tonight reporter who sucks up to everyone and goes nowhere in their career. He's not going to do anything for me, Doug Jeffries. No one in this industry would, in fact. No one is going to do anything for you if you don't do it for yourself.
JS: I never thought I would say this, but I'm actually rooting for you right now.
JR: Thank you. That means a lot. You probably thought I'd be gone.
JS: I did! What did you think of working with Michael Lucas?
JR: Regardless of what people think of his personality, I loved working with him. When I go to New York, I think it's a Lucas town and when people come to L.A. it will be a Ridgeline town. San Francisco has COLT and Raging Stallion and all that.
JS: Well, at the moment, I think when people come here, they think of it as a Chi Chi LaRue town. Are you out to change that?
JR: Absolutely. You gotta relax. Friendly competition. We're all in the same business. They are old school people too. It's time for a change. I love Chi Chi too, but she needs to get away from the association with Doug because it's hurting her image and her company.
JS: I'll agree with that.
JR: You can't be that nasty and vicious to people and expect for it not to get talked about and hurt your reputation eventually. He thinks he's the "it" guy, but he's never been. He thinks he is all that and in all actuality he's not. He's just rude and mean. I had times when my ego was that huge and thankfully people set me straight. For me, I had to accept when I wasn't getting the box covers and the magazine covers that I wasn't who I thought I was. And I knew if I ever wanted those things, I would have to go make them happen for myself.
JS: Do you have any regrets in your career?
JR: I wish I hadn't been on the juice during my Hot House movies. I wish I could change some of the performers I've been paired with. Chi Chi loved putting me with gay for pay guys like Tod Parker who has now gained tremendous weight and does background work for Massive Studios. Chi Chi would put me with them because she said she knew I wouldn't complain. And she's right. I never did. And I love working with Chi Chi. No problem there. It's the Doug Jeffries thing in the way.
JS: I don't think Chi Chi really has a grasp on just how much it is in the way and how much it has done damage to their image. Especially inner-industry.
JR: It doesn't matter. We've spent too much time even talking about him. He's a puppet. He follows her around like a puppet and works in her shadow and he's not even his own individual person. Hopefully someday they can separate him from that company. But in the meantime, I have my own thing going on. You're going to exclude me? Fine. I'm going to exclude you. No one owns this business anymore. Not since the Internet sites like Sean and Randy and Corbin have taken over and the big companies are freaking out. That's why I plan on launching the Internet divsion of my company very soon.
For the second hour of the show, Ridge was joined by porn star Rob Romoni, who happens to be Ridge's roommate, production manager and one of his best friends. Ridge wanted to make sure the subject of FreeHarlowCuadra.com was mentioned though it was hard to be serious about such a dark subject with a comic like Romoni in the room. (I swear to God, Rob Romoni could easily be the next Bruce Vilanch if he wants. I want to get together and have him write all my stand-up material with me.)
JS: What do you think? Do you think Brent did it?
JR: (long pause) Let's say I don't think he sleeps well at night. Jon Roker is a very well known independent filmmaker who just finsihed a documentary on the band Green Day. He's now working on a documentary about the porn industry and he supplied me with the Free Harlow t-shirt I'm wearing in the photos on my blog. He wants to document the story too.
JS: Have you spoken with Harlow directly?
JR: Yes. He gives his regards to everyone.
JS: Everyone but Brent Corrigan, who will be on the show by the way in late August.
JR: In my heart of hearts, it just doesn't add up or make any sense. Brent was a shady character from the moment I met him. With a boyfriend 20 years older than him, lying about his age, falsifying documents, doing bareback movies, getting loaded up with cum, lying about defense funds with no proof of where the money went, using everyone for their money... it's just my opinion, but I can have an opinion and there is something I honestly feel was set up and something is not right. I've spoken with Harlow twice. He thanked me for my support and unfortunately that's all I can give him at this time is that and to spread it around. Something is fishy. Why would someone confess the murder to Brent Corrigan of all people and why would he assist in bringing him down unless he was involved somehow and going to get off scott free?
JS: What can you do?

JR: Cobra owned the right to Brent Corrigan's name. If it wasn't that big of a deal, why would Falcon use the name Fox Ryder instead for their movie The Velvet Mafia -- which didn't do very well, by the way.
JS: Weren't you in that movie, Rob?
RR: I was.
JR: He had a cameo.
JS: Are we really going to PA?
RR: Tonight!
JR: Honestly? I've been asked. I've been asked by some other people who believe he's not guilty. I might go.

JR: I want to be like Whoopi Goldberg in that movie. The friendship movie.

RR: I think we should bake him something.
JR: I think the real person who murdered Bryan Kocis should come forward.

For the final moments of the show, Ridge, who says he will be 33 this year, showed off his ass, spreading wide for the camera. I take exception to the RR spin on Kocis' murder and the implication that Brent Corrigan "instigated" it.
Kocis perjured documents in filing for Pennsylvania name trademark. A line on the form asks if the person is living. Kocis didn't fill that line in. The implication being Brent Corrigan was dead. Kocis misrepresented that on the form. He then went to Federal Court with the trademark. The fact is he would have lost.
As to Brent's true age, he is 20 years old, not 21. Kocis, the dead, convicted boy molesting pervert was not interested in Brent until he knew his age was 17. Furthermore, the first 4 highly successful Cobra Videos starring Brent Corrigan remain off of the US market.
As to who had opportunity to do in Kocis, start with Robert Wagner/Aaron Phelps. He was Kocis' lover. Aaron spanky was noticeably upset at Brent's gesture of reconciliation with Kocis during the Krave party in Las Vegas. Aaron turned angrily and left Krave. Aaron returned to Pennsylvania and Kocis' home. He was in that home up through the time of the murder. He vetted Cuadra who was posing as Danny Moilin to Kocis his boss.
Now lets see what does Jason Ridge do for a living. Oh that would be take or give cocks up the ass. How is that any different than Brent's modeling career? It's not. What a bunch of pandering BULLSHIT.
The Pennsylvania authorities arrested Cuadra and Kerekes for a reason--the evidence pointed squarely at them. Then, the newest development Kerekes turning on his squeeze of 6 years, Cuadra. This thing just gets better as time goes on. Two idiots on ice awaiting a murder trial.

Well, another great interview by Jason, I must say.
Obviously Jason, you are no slouch when it comes to your interviewing skills; and I mean that as a sincere compliment. For example, I was most impressed on how you rolled out the heavy artillery RIGHT at the start, when it came time to bring up the Kocis murder: "What do you think? Do you think Brent did it?"
LOL! Excellent job, Jason, you rattled him right off the bat, into revealing his true feelings.
Which are, that he is rabid Brent hater. Pure and simple. That's why poooor innocent Harlow muuuuuust have been framed! Because his mind cannot wrap around the concept of anyone other than the hated Brent doing the murder. Blind hatred leading to the mental phenominon known as "cognitive dissonance."
I suspect, except perhaps for a few close friends and family members in Va Beach, all Harlowites are sercretly bottom feeding Brent haters...and that is the TRUE reason why they think a mammoth frame job conspiracy the likes of which the CIA, FBI, Homeland Security and even NASA combined could never pull off... led to Harlow being arrested for the crime.
JR and RR are both textbook clinical cases of cognitive dissonance in action. So, kudos to you, Jason, for pulling this out of them so effectively!
Hm, I am not sure yet what exactly JR is lacking: information in general or reading ability in particular. Didn't I read somewhere else he "has it in his guts"? I will omit the cheap witticism.

Wow. As someone starting a new business I don't think I would have been quite so 'candid'. This industry is small and you need all the 'bridges' you can get to get where you wanna go. I think the outspokeness of JR was a misguided attempt at drawing attention to his newly formed company. I truly hope JR succeeds but me thinks he needs to bite his tounge a little bit.

Anon at 8:20, reasonably asked. I (and DeWayne) have watched Brent as closely as possible. DeWayne was a member of Cobra from very early on. I am not that much into videos but the still picture of Brent on the conver of EPD caught my eye. Jim - I guess I just don't see some of Brent's actions as magnanimously motivated as you do. He willingly - and perhaps actively - went along with the age deception so long as it suited him and his porn career. When a 'better' opportunity came along, and Bryan wouldn't let him go to take it, Brent lashed out and had no problem trying to destroy the life and business of the person who had given him his career to date (granted, illegally). He didn't reveal Bryan's criminal activities out of some desire to better society, or to bring down a child pornographer, or even to escape his clutches to get out of porn - he did it to try and further his own career. He was willing to screw anyone who got in his way and in this particular case, he had a doozy of a screw to throw out. And he went right from Bryan, on into another phase of his porn career.
It was this initial action that not only set up lenses through which to view Bryan's actions, but also to view Brent's actions. Controversy and skepticism and shady stories have followed Brent ever since - in other words, no strong evidence to contradict these initial impressions of him has ever come out. In fact, in only increased when his two year war of words with Bryan mysteriously ended, he went back into business with him while some of us wondered if hell had frozen over, and then - Bryan was dead not a month or two later.
A pattern follows that boy and it's a dark one. And as much as you might want to defend him or see him in the best of light, there has to come a point where you have to question whether he just has some of the worst luck in the world, or if he's just actively involved in so much shady crap that he's always going to be surrounded with dark, questionable stories.

When he did escape and exposed who Bryan was you question his motives. A question is not an answer and I do not think it is relevant. The rapist was exposed. To assign some moral equivelancy to the subsequent actions of the abused is to in fact defend the rapist.
That others have tried to use and abuse him is not his fault. This 'dark cloud' you want to so ominously paint around him is not of his doing. You are trying to somehow connect the bad decisions of some around him with Brent himself. The connection cannot be made.
Remember, he is states evidence with no immunity. He has been investigated as much as Harlow and Joe if not more. Brent and Grant were working with the FBI long before Bryan was killed. Harlow and Joe were under investigation long before Bryan was killed.

He didn't "escape" from Bryan to go live a 'normal' life - he moved on to more porn that Bryan didn't want him to do. His motive was right there. And with your words, you suggest that there was some sort of violent relationship going on where Brent was powerless to Bryan who forced himself on him and Brent's life was in some sort of danger - rather than it being the dark, twisted and yet oddly mutually beneficial relationship that it was to the two of them UNTIL Brent saw a better opportunity - a better BUSINESS opportunity. And he moved on to yet another older man / younger man relationship that he had just come out of.
Personally, I think everyone in this story from Bryan to Brent to Grant to Harlow and so on is knee deep in suspicous crap. I think they all have blood on their hands to some degree (literally and figuratively) as a result from their dealings with each other, and not ONE of them is innocent in this.
4:48pm I must commend you on one point...your realism in accepting that Brent was indeed underage on those first four videos. Most of the time I try to "talk" to about Brent insist on maintaining the fiction he lied about being UNDERage...not overage. Which ends up in me shoveling overwhelming evidence mathematically showing that he is indeed now 20, not 21...which leads to hysterical counter-claims of consipacies involving officials at the highest levels of the Idaho DMV, etc...
So, it's refreshing indeed to debate Brent with someone with a realistic grasp of the fact that he was indeed 17 for his first four Cobra videos. I feel on the verge of actually having an intelligent conversation on the subject!
So, with that preliminary out of the way...I cannot agree that he left Bryan for a "better opportunity." He left because he had no choice. He finally realized that the fake ID situation was a mistake, and he had to come clean...but Byran would not let him. So he ran.
It as simple as that; I do not know where you come up with the idea he was profit motivated; he was motivated by the fact that as he became older and more well known his secret was become more ridiculously difficult for him to maintain. He ran because he had no other options.
Now lets look at Bryan's options.
You know, truth be told, I kinda feel bad for the predicament Bryan was in at this point in time. When the age problem began to be revealed to him, he had TWO major problems: 1) an entire years worth of his company's work-product...4 videos, with profit potential in the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of dollars...were just a whisker away from becoming worthless kiddie porn. And on top of that... 2) only a few years previously he had JUST managed to escape child rape charges. Due to fortunate circumtances (ie, the 15 yr old opting not to press charges) and some VERY snazzy lawyering, not only did he escape jail time, but even escaped Megan's law registration...and if you know anything about Megan's law...well, it was simply a legal miracle he got out of the situation as cleanly as he did. Anyways, this legal miracle could EASILY have fallen apart like a house of cards, had authorities discovered he had sex with yet ANOTHER underage boy. Bryan could simply not afford the scandal to become public, for personal legal reasons.
So, Bryan opted to attmept a cover up. He lied to Brent, threatened Brent, even tried to bribe Brent (the infamous "contract" for a used Jetta).
But like I said...Brent really had no choice. It's ridiculous to try to go through life using a fake ID everywhere you go, just to save your boss' sorry ass. Brent knew this, and no amount of lies, carrots and sticks were going to keep Brent from eventually making this INEVITABLE realization.
So you see... BRYAN is the one who had a choice at this point, and it was BRYAN who opted for a Watergate-style cover-up. With similarly disasterous Watergate-like results. It was BRYAN who made the fatal bad decision, and it was BRYAN's bad decision that has led to all this "shadiness" surrounding Brent AND Bryan AND Cobra that persisted these last couple years!
Like I said, I understand Bryan's choice was a very difficult one, I really do...but he should have dome the right thing, and COME CLEAN when he found out about Brent's age. Had he done that, NONE of this later trajedy would have occured...including his own death.
So, you know, trying to say 18 y/o Brent was somehow the fatal decisionmaker in all this is just, well, ridiculous.
And THATS the flaw that undermines your entire argument. This cloud of shadyness you refer to is ultimately Bryan's doing. Brent, in reality, had no choice; Bryan DID. Oh I admit, it was a difficult one... but he did choose wrong. And THAT is what led to all the darkness...including tragically his own death.
