VEGAS!
From a fan's point of view, the annual Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas is a fantastic way to meet all of your favorite porn stars at once. But from an industry worker's perspective, I must say after taking two years off attending this shindig, I completely forgot how amazing it is for publicity. If you're looking to promote yourself, there is no better venue because honestly... you really don't even have to try if you are even remotely well known. You walk in and there are several camera crews and magazine photographers on your ass at once. I had forgotten how this is always the one place in my life where I feel like a bonafide star.- Canadian Reality TV show Web Dreams documented my entire arrival on the convention floor because they are covering Jet Set at the moment and I have been helping promote their latest epic, On Fire! So since I had this massive camera crew with me, every female porn star I know wanted a piece of the publicity and ran up to say hello. Mary Carey, jessica drake, Heidi Mayne, Tera Patrick, Kaylani Lei, the works. It took literally over a half an hour to get from the door to my spot at the Jet Set booth. I couldn't have made for a better entrance or asked for better footage on the show.
- Also, the second I arrived on the convention floor, everyone informed me that I was on PerezHilton.com that day. He linked to the JasonCurious.com and picked up on our story about Stonie becoming Brittany Coxxx. I thought, "How funny that this would happen right when I step foot on the same floor that I met Stonie on almost a decade ago." It was one of those "full circle" moments.
- Jet Set's exclusive Aaron James has been the hit of the gay section. And I say "section" because although it is called The GayVN Expo, it's literally just a few booths this year in the middle of the AEE floor. This was my first time meeting James and he is brand new. He is "gay for pay" but not one of the awful "I don't want you touching me unless I'm getting money" boys. He actually grabbed Dean Phoenix and stuck his tongue down his throat at Hustlaball and says that Adam Killian was such a good fuck he would've dated him and is still upset he never called him the next day. "Makes you feel like a bitch, doesn't it?" he laughed. "It made me think twice before I ever do that to a girl again." He is incredibly sweet and defies the "gay for pay" stereotype: Very soft spoken and shy. He is doing porn to help pay off the mortgage on his mom's house. He also supports his disabled grandparents.
Aaron had been working hard at the booth for the past few days and hadn't even had a chance to enjoy the expo so on his break, I decided to introduce him to all of the hottest and most famous porn bitches known to man. MTV's True Life has been following him around as a documentary subject so they accompanied us and yet again, pair Sechrest with camera crew and the vagina flocks to me. It was pretty hot and Aaron James was just in seventh heaven. ...Though not as much as I would've imagined, I have to be honest. "I love pussy," he said afterwards. "But honestly, I don't watch a lot of porn. I was in a relationship for a while and since that, I kind of prefer there to be some feelings there."
Okay, how much do we love him?!
- Jet Set really is the only major gay studio that had provided talent for the show. There is no presence from Lucas Entertainment or Falcon Studios and though Chi Chi LaRue signed autographs for a day, none of her exclusives were at the show. It sucks for the gay fans, but it's been awesome for Jet Set as they had no competition at this show. They're the only game in town and when you've got Aaron James along with Jet Set exclusive Jesse Santana, Guy Parker and Dean Phoenix, that's not such a bad game.- This is also the first year that Jenna Jameson was not signing at the expo and many fans were disappointed that the most famous porn star in the world was not at the show. Many people on the floor were calling it "the end of an era," as it was the first time she's not been part of the talent roster in well over a decade. Hell, I'd imagine many people pay the price just to meet her alone. She announced at the awards ceremony, "I'm never spreading my legs for this industry ever again." Some saw it as a retirement announcement, but I saw it more as a "fuck you" to the people who have treated her poorly over the past year when things have been really rough for her. I think she expected mainstream to talk shit about her plastic surgery and divorce, but for the adult industry to have her back. We certainly did not.
- Hustlaball was kind of a bust for me and I didn't stay long. I made the mistake of working myself so hard into the ground during the days leading up to it that by the time I got to the one thing I was really looking forward to, I was too exhausted to actually enjoy it. (Naturally, at least.) And besides nearly being ready to pass out from tiredness, the slightest thing wrong would've sent me into hysterics or made me cry. So, the best thing about my Hustlaball experience was taking this photo with Brandon Baker. I walked the entire length of the club with Brandon at one point during the evening and I saw something that really made me chuckle inside. As he passed three or four Rent Boys he was Pied Piper to, he would say, "Stop your hotness!" to them all as a quick hello while he kept walking. It was like a record on repeat -- and it is exactly what I do at events like this. (My version is: "How's your mom? How's your dad? How's your son?") It was clear to me in that moment that Brandon Baker has done exactly what I did years ago in growing this public persona that is like this one piece of him magnified to 100%. Brandon Baker at any public event and Jason Sechrest at any public event are not the Brandon Baker and Jason Sechrest we are when we go to dinner and a movie with each other. They're very different entites. The private one is more multi-dimensional, obviously. It has to be. At those events, you're putting on a show!
I smiled and thought about the first time I met him, way before all of this happened to him when he was just starring in his first couple of movies and was writing a column for Mark Adams. I remembered him telling me, "I want to be just like you!" and suddenly wondered if I had anything to do with it. And felt honored if I did. And proud of all that he has made of himself.
- The night of the awards ceremony, I hosted a private party in my suite with Chris Steele. I used to do this every year following The AVN Awards because there's usually nothing for the gay porn stars to do on this night. I wish I'd thought of it sooner but as soon as I mentioned it in passing at the eleventh hour, I was given carte blanche by Jet Set and told, "Make it happen!" We did. And it was packed. Really incredible. Caesar, Caleb Carter, Brent Sommers, Jesse Santa, Aaron James, some really random hot porn girls, Antonio Madiera, Chad Donovan, the president of Jet Set Nick Bouyis, Jonathan Vargas and lots more came by, played drinking games and got plastered! 
I have to say, too, in nearly ten years of working in adult entertainment, I have never been treated as well as I was treated by Jet Set on this trip. I felt like I was part of the family and I felt like I was a fucking star. They wouldn't let me pay for one cab ride, not one meal, not one drink, nothing. If I was tired, I was told to stop working so hard and get some sleep. Hell, I think I was treated better than the damned performers were! Nick, the president of the company, even called me when I returned home to personally thank me for everything I had done for them there. I mean, who does that?! 
Whereas many of my PR clients often want to know why they haven't been booked to be on The View yet, Chris Steele said to me flat out, "I knew exactly why I was bringing you on board. You're a cross between Perez Hilton and Paris Hilton because you can drive traffic and sales and publicity with your site, but you're also a socialite who knows everyone and everyone knows you and everyone listens to what you have to say. I'm not hiring you to be anything but yourself. Just having you here brings more media attention on us than we would've had before. We wouldn't have gotten the footage of all the girls without you. You talking up our movie in interviews, on the red carpets, in your column, that's what we brought you on board for. You don't have a schedule of work to do. All you have to do is be yourself and talk about us."It was as though for the first time, someone actually understood what it is that I do in this business. I have such a difficult time explaining it to people because it's so multi-faceted and in two minutes, Chris Steele boiled the whole thing down and made me feel really special.
I swear to God, if I were offered the right kind of money, I would take a desk job there. And having not had a desk job (or a real boss!) in, what, seven years, that's saying a lot! I might even take a job in the mail room there, seriously! I enjoyed being part of that family so much. I think you will probably see me working with Jet Set a lot more in the future -- and specificially working with Chris Steele. He is one of the sweetest, most down to earth, talented, humble, no bullshit people I've met yet in this business.
Okay, enough gushing. But you know I don't gush about all my clients. I talk about them! But I don't gush like this. They were really incredible to me and to their entire staff and all the boys. I can't stress it enough. I'm still a little in awe of what a great time I had under their wing.
- After the Jet Set part of my trip was over, I moved from The Venetian to The Westin (which had recently been remodeled) and was put up in a really awesome deluxe suite by the party that I was hosting that night at The Blue Moon Resort. This event was to be the only one during the entire weekend that featured live sex shows (hot!) and it was serving as a launch party for a new affiliate company called SkaterBucks.com, the new leader in amateur and fetish content featuring goodies from sites like JizzAddiction.com, ToeGasms.com, Boys-Pissing.com, Boys-Smoking.com and UndieTwinks.com. The evening was also being sponsored by JakeCruise.com and PornTeam.com. I always get a little nervous hosting events for people I've never met at locations I've never been to and thank God for Shane Allen helping to make me feel at home. As soon as we were introduced, he said he was a long-time fan of mine and a regular reader and wouldn't leave my side until it was time for his sex show. That really made me feel much more at home.
It was also a huge honor meeting Jake Cruise himself, who was on hand to jump in and help out the boys of his sex show as needed. Cruise was also familiar with my work and we made plans to have him and his boys on my many shows in the near future. He is way sexier in real life too, I have say. On camera, he kind of has this total "sex pig" demeanor to him, but in person he is very much the "mature" and debonair type. I was really impressed with how he carries himself and with his sex show which featured a brand new stripper from Denver who had never been fucked before. And he was being fucked by none other than Wes Brody, who we've heard all about from David Forest lately!
Wes Brody is the "straight boy" who Johnny Castle "discovered" and who is now "under the management" of Forest Entertainment. (How many quotation marks can we fit into one sentence there, really now?!) Well, let me tell you, Brody is way hotter than his pictures make him out to be, namely because he's put on a lot of muscle since the promo pics that have been heavily circulating. He is also incredibly gay friendly. Um, as an understatement in fact. Shane Allen's show was great as well. He got fucked by Ethan O'Reilly and Zack Randall. Randall really stole the show though because he performed two scenes back to back. - Overall, my annual January Vegas experience was probably one of the most enjoyable I've had yet. I'm often asked why and how I got into this line of work, writing and talking about porn stars for a living. It's because they were the community that embraced me. When I moved to L.A., they took me under their wing and gave me jobs and told me I was something special before anyone else really thought so.
Look, I often wonder why I'm still here and if I have anything left to offer with so many people out there doing what I do now. But what's amazing is this industry, this community, still makes me feel like I have something to bring to the table, ten years later. Even now, they still say, "Stick around." ...And so I do.

After we saw your blog entry about Stonie, we referenced it on our blog and waited a day or so. When Perez Hilton didn't blog anything about it, we emailed him the tip. Perez responded asking if the story was a joke and we pointed him to your blog. The link between Stonie and Borat made the story a cross-over hit IMO. The title of the blog entry Perezhilton.com used is the same as the subject line of our email to Perez.
Perez didn't link to us but, we did have a blog entry about a video clip at papi.com on that looks like Stonie in drag on YOUR blog entry, so I guess it all worked out.
You have to alert all of the major gay blogs when you get a big scoop, else some bitch will coop the story and get the traffic to his site. For example, an alert to Perezhilton.com, fleshbot.com/gay, queerclick.com, gaypornblog.com, gayportimes.com, xbiz.com etc., should have been the first thing you did after you posted the story. THIS is how the game is played.
If you look around, you will see that all of these so-called "mainstream" gay blogs are really getting the majority of their traffic from porn sites like fleshbot.com/gay and queerclick.com.
Since you were the first with the story, it is only fair that any resulting traffic go to your blog. However, you owe us Jason Curious. If your weren't so old me might have considered taking it in trade. Aren't you like 35 or so?

Cult Gay Porn Director Bruce LaBruce has a new movie showing now at Sundance and the gossip is that most people who stumble in to see the movie don't make it to the end of the movie. The movie is a Gay Zombie Porn Movie titled Otto: or, Up With Dead People. The movie is about an undead gay guy who crawls out of his grave in Berlin and gets cast in a movie about zombies.
There is gossip on the net about a "sex scene" between a gay zombie guy and another guy's stomach (however that is done).

For some reason, I don't see a lot of "gay porn blogs" that know about the Cazzo Film / Bruce LaBruce collaborations. Bruce LaBruce did two "movies" for Cazzo that have "theatrical versions" and "gay porn version" (i.e. Skin Flick/Skin Gang and Raspberry Reich/The Revolution is my Boyfriend).
In my opinion, Cazzo Film has already accomplished what mega studio Vivid claimed it wanted to do with its adult videos with the Theatrical/Porn versions of its videos.
I predit that Locked-UP/The Hole by Cazzo will one day be viewed as the video that revolutionized the Gay Porn Market. The theatrical film "Locked-Up" can be bought on Amazon.com and it was released through Strand Releasing (a company that releases "mainstream" gay movies). While the gay porn version of Locked-Up (The Hole) is in porn stores and can be viewed on maleflixxx. Pretty revolutionary stuff.
