Grabby Weekend: Day Three
The main event! The 10th Annual Grabby Awards ceremony at The Park West Theater began with a retrospective look back at the many hilarious videos hosts Chi Chi LaRue and Honey West have put together through the years.
LaRue had a total of ten costume changes throughout the night!
The co-hosts for the evening were some of the most charming in Grabby history. Jake Deckard kept coming up with clever entrances throughout the evening, from being wheeled in like Hannibal with a face mask to continually getting more and more naked. Trevor Knight was, to everyone's surprise, very entertaining for the first half, but by the second half had become so obnoxious LaRue would just roll her eyes on stage instead of trying to talk over him. The best co-host though was Dean Flynn who cleans up quite nice, looking like he was heading to church on a Sunday. Flynn was entertaining, charming, beautiful and giving to his fellow co-hosts -- the combination of which stole the spotlight from the others. I think everyone at the show would agree he gets the top honor for best "co" of the night.
Trophy boys included Jet Set Men exclusive Aaron James, Rascal Video exclusive Blake Riley, Hot House exclusive Ross Hurston and COLT Man Ricky Parks.
Some notable moments:
- Falcon Studios exclusive Erik Rhodes, while accepting the award for Most Versatile, told all other nominees to go fuck themselves and that the award makes him better than them. He was joking. Um, I think.
- Jason Ridge, who had never won a Grabby Award, was honored with both Performer of the Year and Best Actor. His first acceptance speech was perfection, honoring the people who discovered him and got him started in the business like Jett Blakk, as well as the people who helped him form his new company Ridgeline Films. His second speech was easily the most shocking and bizarre of the evening, simply saying, "I want to take this opportunity to do something I had been meaning to do tonight anyway. Doug Jeffries, I apologize. You know why. I am sorry and I apologize."
- While Andrew Rosen made a very serious acceptance speech for Best Screenplay for Jet Set Men's The F Word, Diesel Washington and Aaron James made out in the background causing fans to go wild, seemingly for everything Rosen was saying!
- Chris Ward revealed his next big budget production for Raging Stallion will be cowboy themed.
- Tory Mason was obviously very moved by his win for Best Solo Sex Scene. He had written his speech down and read it from paper, the most nervous and serious I think I've ever seen him. The win obviously meant a lot to him.
- Francesco D'Macho while accepting the award for Best Cum Scene (Hot House's Verboten 1 & 2) said he walked in that morning and told everyone he wanted to be completely drenched in cum by the scene's end.
- Logan McCree, star of Raging Stallion's Ink Storm, accepted the studio's honor for Best Fetish Video and said that, ironically, when he first came to Raging Stallion, his only request was that he not have to make a fetish movie!
- Doug Jeffries accepted his Wall of Fame honor and in his introduction it was said that he has starred in over 400 movies. Wow! Who knew?!
- I cried when another Wall of Famer was inducted. The late Kent North, whose boyfriend accepted on his behalf. It was the one standing ovation of the evening and the whole thing was very, "I am Mrs. Norman Mailer" ala A Star is Born.
- No one thanked their parents or God.
The show was long. Over three hours, easily. And not enough of Chi Chi and Honey to keep us laughing in between. People started to clear out around intermission, in fact. But it was, however a very good production and a lot of fun for all of us in the industry who knew all of these people well enough to be interested.

The official after party was Rentboy.com's Military Ball at Circuit. For the first half of the evening, I hung with the RentBoy crew: Brandon Baker, Rusty and Angel Benton. It was great to catch up with all of them and Brandon really made the effort to go above and beyond making sure I was taken care of despite how insanely busy he is at these things. I really appreciate that and always feel like such an honorary member of their family when I'm around them. Others in the RentBoy VIP booth included Wolf Hudson, Aaron James, Jackson Wild, Tory Mason, Jesse Santana, Guy Parker, Zacakary Pierce, Thor Stephans, Brett Drysdale, Mr. Pam, Antonio Milan and Jeremy Hall.
The second half I spent on the opposite end of the bar in a separate VIP booth hanging with Chi Chi LaRue. In her booth: Doug Jeffries, Erik West, Howard Marr, Sister Roma, Honey West, Blake Riley, Christian Owen, Roman Heart, Dean Flynn and a whole bunch of drag queens and trannys!

It was "Mrs. Norman Maine" not Norman Mailer--but a very funny mistake!
